It is to be a race, she said, and he never had the heart to say no, not to her.

So Cesare finds himself trailing Lucrezia with worry creasing his forehead and arms spread to catch her--just in case--as she breaks into a flurry of embroidered silk, golden hair and tumbling laughter up the pile of boxes the Castle thought appropriate for today's climbing lesson.

Ezio seems amused enough, arms crossed like a proud teacher, likely at the expense of the cardinal in his red dress instead of his budding pupil. It would only be fair, she said, after he insisted on having his sister keep her own skirt on.

She stops before every ledge to gather the folds of her dress in her arms, revealing generous views of her white-stockinged legs, and lift herself up the box with much effort. He trails closely behind and feigns even greater effort, every so often sending a glare at the Florentine. You will avert your eyes now or--

"Come now, brother, I should be most upset if you let me win without a struggle," even as she huffs and puffs and lets her skirt fall back around her ankle, one hand resting against her chest to calm her thumping heart.

Cesare manages a chuckle then a growl, "Says the hare to the tortoise!" He makes a show of hopping onto the ledge before hers in the manliest manner that a cleric's skirt allows. Stephanie feigns a cough to hide her giggling.

Lucrezia breaks into peals of laughter that bounce off the surfaces and echo twofold. "But I shall never sleep!"

Only she steps on the hem of her own dress as she rushes for the next ledge and finds herself stumbling, teetering off to the side. Cesare sees her body tipping, tipping until he is sure she would fall off the box if he doesn't catch her in time. So he lunges off the surface and reaches for her to grab whatever he can of her wrappings of cotton, silk, pulling her close that he may bear the brunt of the impact.

The thud sounds much quieter than he expects, and the pain comes slowly, creeping up the side of his torso.

Breathless, she just laughs and laughs, the sound reverberating through his body with her piled on top. She seems even more euphoric now after that sudden rush of excitement. "I knew you'd catch me, Cesare."

And he gets an Eskimo kiss in return for his aching hips for days to come. He gives a half-smile, half-wince at the ladies and a pointed look at the Florentine. "This is your fault, Auditore."

Ezio shrugs, giving him a slow appreciative applause. "I did suggest the pants."

Cesare scowls, unable to argue against his hand in the trouble they barely averted.

Lucrezia shifts herself off of him and onto the grass. "If anyone is to blame then it is I, my love, for asking to learn how to climb," she pecks his cheek to soothe his wounds, glancing between her sibling and her best friends with the brightest smile. This is to be a peace accord. "They showed me how to walk on air again, did you not see?"

He relents, smiling in defeat as he rouses himself off the grass. "Indeed I saw how you soared, sis," his arm reaches to wrap loosely around her waist, his eyes still hard on the banker.

"But they've yet to teach you how to return to earth."
